The Historical Antarctic Sealing Industry Conference 2016
A conference on the history and legacies of the Antarctic sealing industry was held at the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge on the 19th and 20th of September 2016. This was the first gathering of experts from around the globe in this field and provided a forum for an exchange of research and opinions from archaeologists, anthropologists, site and artefact conservators and managers, social and economic historians and others. Following the conference, attendees visited Ironbridge Gorge to see industrial sites associated with sealing.
Proceedings of the conference, edited by Robert Headland, will shortly be published in physical and electronic formats.
